MAC TIME TRACE / PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: October 21, 2026

Mac Time Trace records and reviews app activity on a Mac you are authorized to use. Recording and log analysis take place locally. No developer-provided app account is required, and usage records and system logs are not uploaded to the developer's servers.

1. Data recorded during daily use

After you confirm and enable recording, the app observes foreground app names, bundle IDs, timestamps and activity intervals. It records app switches, locks and unlocks, sleep and wake events, display and session states, pauses and gaps, and away markers you create. System notifications, timers and queries may be inaccurate. Optional idle rules use only the system-provided elapsed time since the last input; they do not read individual keystrokes.

The app does not read chat content, chat databases, window titles, screenshots, photos, microphone audio or camera content. Foreground app status cannot establish that specific messages were read or identify the operator.

2. Local storage and settings

Records, events, away markers and runtime checkpoints are stored in the Application Support directory within the app's sandbox container. Trial start and end times and the most recent observation time are stored in a local trial-state file. Recording consent, automatic recording and idle rules are stored in local preferences. The current version does not store trial state in Keychain.

When data reaches the approximate 1 GB limit, recording stops and a notice is shown; the oldest records are not deleted automatically. Subscription expiry does not automatically delete data. Local files are not synced through the developer's cloud. Your own backups, sync tools, export locations or system backups may retain separate copies, depending on your setup.

3. Historical system log checks

Only when you initiate a check does the app attempt to read accessible system logs for the selected period, or use the system file picker to read files you select and are authorized to process. These files may contain timestamps, process identifiers, boot context, app identifiers and status messages. Analysis identifies activity indicators; it does not infer complete continuous durations from isolated observations or automatically read the WeChat database.

You manage original import files at their original locations. Current check results are held in app memory for display and report generation, and are not automatically added to daily Records statistics. Permissions, archive formats, log rotation and redaction may cause a check to fail or be incomplete. The app does not run terminal export commands; when you follow the guide and run them yourself, you are responsible for the output files.

4. Apple subscriptions and the trial

The 24-hour daily-use trial starts when recording first begins and is timed using a local file. Apple StoreKit handles purchases, renewals and restoration. The app reads Apple-verified transactions and subscription states, including expiry and revocation, to determine access, and may obtain product and subscription information through Apple services. The developer does not receive bank card details, Apple Account passwords or payment passwords. This processing is subject to the Apple Privacy Policy.

5. Exports and contacting support

Reports are saved to your chosen location only when you export them. They may contain app names, timestamps, system events and original supporting log entries; review them before sharing. External storage, email services and recipients process data under their own policies.

When you email support, your email address, message and attachments you choose to provide are transmitted through email services to the developer to address your request and any necessary follow-up. Do not send passwords, complete payment details or unrelated sensitive information. You do not need to send complete logs unsolicited. You may request deletion of support information, except where retention is legally required.

6. Controls, backups and deletion

You can decline recording, pause or quit, cancel file selection, cancel automatic renewal and manage local data. Before clearing records, pause and quit the app, then remove files you have confirmed are no longer needed from the data directory. Uninstalling does not guarantee removal of all containers, backups or external copies; manage original logs, exported reports and backups separately. The developer cannot restore records you delete.

7. Website and third-party services

This website provides product information and support instructions. It has no log-upload form, advertising or third-party analytics scripts. The hosting provider may process IP addresses, browser information and basic access logs for network delivery and security maintenance. Apple and email links lead to services governed by their own policies. The app has no third-party advertising or tracking services and does not use cloud AI to analyze logs.

8. Updates and contact

We will update this policy and its date if features or data practices change. For privacy, data-control and technical support questions, contact:
